Christchurch

Situated on the eastern coast of New Zealand’s South Island, the vibrant city of Christchurch is the largest city on the island. Dubbed the 'Garden City', it is known for its many lush green spaces and possesses a multicultural charm with an added dash of Victorian flair.

The city offers a fabulous array of activities, including punting down the Avon River, helicopter tours, hot air ballooning, whale and dolphin watching. Enjoy a stroll around the beautifully sculptured parks, visit the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and browse numerous art galleries.

Kaikoura

Where mountains meet the sea and wildlife takes over civilisation, Kaikōura is best known for its vast coastline which hugs the Pacific Ocean. Kaikōura is a year-round destination featuring some of the most memorable experiences that New Zealand has to offer including Whale Watching and one of our all-time favourite activities in New Zealand, Swimming with the Dolphins.

Add in a visit to the local seal colonies, watching the incredibly graceful Royal Albatross, a walk around the Kaikōura Peninsular, a visit to the museum and simply taking in sun rising over the Pacific; there’s lots to do here.

Day 6/14

Palliser Bay

Situated in the North Island, the breathtaking Palliser Bay lies just southeast of Wellington towards the island’s southernmost point. The landscape is characterised by dramatic cliffs, swathes of bright green vegetation, and rocky coastline giving way to sparkling, bright blue waters. Hike next to the sea, watch fur seals at play and surf in stunning tranquil coves. The area is also known for its excellent wineries (such as Martinborough) and there are many guided tours on offer which include wine tasting and dining at these locations. Make sure to try the famous fish and chips at the historic Lake Ferry Hotel. The picturesque lighthouse makes for a wonderful stop and fantastic photographic opportunity. Travellers interested in discovering local culture will delight in the chance to visit the fishing village of Ngawi.

Day 8/14

Havelock North

On the steep slopes of Te Mata Peak, lies the pretty and prosperous country town of Havelock North. This lovely tree-lined village is known for its infomative and fascinating honey centre, where you can see bees in action, as well as its charming restaurants which serve up generous portions of hearty country food. Havelock North is home to a thriving and prosperous community of local artists, many of whom congregate and collaborate at the Keirunga Gardens Arts & Craft centre. Set in the beautiful Keirunga Gardens, this cultural centre provides a venue for the learning and practice of many arts, crafts, and leisure pursuits. The town’s largest and most impressive park is the Te Mata Trust Park, comprised of 240 acres of exquisite land overlooking the town. Visitors can take a peaceful stroll along a path that meanders its way up to the Te Mata summit, to see magnificent panoramic views across the plains towards nearby Hastings and Napier.
