Overview

A South Island escape revealing New Zealand’s wild heart, from rainforests and glaciers to fiords, wildlife and alpine skies.

Explore the wild side of the South Island over two unforgettable weeks. In Christchurch, explore the city before venturing to the seaside village of Akaroa. Cross the Southern Alps in style aboard the TranzAlpine, arriving on the West Coast to walk amid lush rimu rainforest. Kayak across a mirror-calm lake, and heli-hike among ancient glaciers. While in Wānaka, we suggest crossing the lake to Mou Waho Island, a lake on an island in a lake. Queenstown delivers adrenaline with a jet boat through Mt Aspiring National Park, followed by a BBQ dinner at Walter Peak Station. Experience the still night silence of Pātea / Doubtful Sound, explore glowworm caves, and discover Dunedin’s flavours and wildlife. Return to the Alps to journey by boat among glacial icebergs and stargaze in dark skies. Finish your trip soaking in the luxury pools of Ōpuke before returning to where it all began.
