Set on the edge of Lake Wānaka and surrounded by dramatic peaks, this relaxed alpine town blends adventure with tranquillity. Hike the Instagram hot spot of Roy’s Peak, explore Mount Aspiring National Park, or enjoy boutique dining and vineyards. It’s a quieter alternative to Queenstown, equally breathtaking but less crowded.

2. Coromandel Peninsula

Golden beaches, native forest, and hidden coves define the Coromandel. Dig your own hot pool at Hot Water Beach, wander Cathedral Cove, or explore the coastal art galleries and small towns like Whitianga and Coromandel Town. It’s the perfect coastal escape for those who love nature and simplicity.

3. Tongariro National Park

Exploring Tongariro feels like taking a step into Jurassic Park (without the dinosaurs, of course!)
